The Tower Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment on towers and rooftops. This role involves working at heights, supporting senior technicians, and ensuring all work is performed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wireless telecommunications equipment (antennas, radios, mounts, cabling, etc.)
  • Climb telecommunications towers, monopoles, rooftops, and other structures (up to 300+ feet)
  • Support crew members with rigging, hoisting, and positioning of equipment
  • Perform basic cable installation including fiber, coax, and grounding
  • Assist with testing and troubleshooting using basic test equipment
  • Maintain and inspect tools, equipment, and company vehicles
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including PPE and fall protection
  • Complete daily work reports and documentation accurately
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 0–2 years of experience in telecommunications, construction, or a related field preferred
  • Willingness to learn and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Strong work ethic and reliability

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb towers up to 300+ feet
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 75–100 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods

Work Environment

  • Outdoor field environment
  • Frequent travel required (may include overnight stays)
  • Work in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights
